SUSTAINABILITY – A FOCUS ON CLIMATE CHANGE

CIV takes up the challenge of realizing the Common Good, through the understanding of the multidimensionality of capital. Therefore, CIV is an economic entity that aims to produce sustainability innovation by transforming economies (in plural!) and presiding over capital and private markets. Within this framework, finance is intended to be a means and not the end goal of its activities.

Responsibility for our society and our planet is nothing abstract for us, separated from everyday life. No special topic adapted to the spirit of times. The way we organize and prioritize our resources reflects our corporate culture.

For us, studying and observing how sustainability trends, the supertrends of today, are shaping industries and economies represents the foundation on which we build our investment philosophy and discipline. During the holding period, we support our companies transform the paradigm of conventional operations by injecting capital, human and financial, to promote sustainability.

CLIMATE CHANGE

Evidence reveals that current warming is occurring roughly 10 times faster than the average rate of warming after an ice age. Having said this, we at CIV choose to take a proactive and positive view, helping to advance research climate solutions. The following videos highlight some of the +400 Climate Pledge signatories across multiple industries who are trailblazing paths to a cleaner future through decarbonization.

Each storyline below serves as an inspiring example of concrete and innovative efforts, demonstrating that a zero-carbon journey is both possible and crucial, and inspiring companies from all sectors to commit to accelerating climate action.

The following videos portray a group of visionaries striving for a better future, the complex hurdles to igniting corporate change on a global scale, and a contagious hope, and inspiration, for the future.

SHIFT TO AN OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK

We need to break through the doom-and-gloom bubble, because we’re all paralyzed by it. We often believe that there are no real solutions, that climate change is inevitable. At CIV, having the privilege of meeting and collaborating with companies at the forefront of environmental innovation, we have developed over time a positive attitude towards change and have gained deep technical and strategic skills that allow us to support companies committed to sustainability.

A RETURN TO ANCIENT WISDOM

It is fascinating how many of today's innovations, often recognised as new regenerative practices, are inspired by the past. Mother Nature guides us and shows us what we need in order to sustain ourselves and our planet, and when we do not listen she begins to demand it.

INNOVATION FOR CHANGE

This video is about solutions, about stories and relationships. People coming together from various companies, different in nature, who together succeed in achieving change. We innovate our way out. It is not about convincing people not to use energy, but about providing them with clean energy. Everywhere we find people who cultivate differently, who think beyond the boundaries, outside the box. That's the attitude we all must adopt.

STORYTELLING THROUGH CHARACTERS

It is striking to see how professionals with different expertise come together to offer their deep knowledge, whether personal, professional, developed through science or research, or through academia.

A BETTER FUTURE

These films clearly demonstrate an ongoing transformation that needs greater support from all stakeholders, including investors who are capable of accelerating the growth of companies that are genuinely committed to sustainability.

It is exciting to see how in these areas - which are being reforested through innovative agroforestry initiatives involving the planting of native trees as well as food trees - we are beginning to see more carbon sequestration compared to what would have happened without human action. Thus, there is a possibility that the future of forests could even be better than what it used to be. There is still a long way to go, but we are seeing some very positive results.
